Rebekah Gribbon

Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science

BATD Member Diploma Highland

Rebekah is a qualified Exercise and Sport Scientist. She has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science at the Universal College of Learning in 2019. Rebekah specialises in Strength and Conditioning, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Exercise Prescription for Athletes and also Exercise Prescription for Special Populations.

Rebekah’s hands-on approach to training means that each client receives a tailored programme to help them reach their goals. Her private one-on-one training facility means each client receives her full attention during their training period.

Rebekah has had experience in many different sports, including basketball, volleyball, swimming and netball. Her qualification means that she is very versatile working with other sports people in different codes. Her previous experiences has seen Rebekah work alongside both junior and senior rugby teams, motorsport, netball, hockey and swimming.

Her research has been displayed at the Sport and Exercise Science Conference New Zealand (2019). This shows that Rebekah is able to find, develop and justify the best method of training for a person through current research ensuring that the best decision is made to help them achieve their goals.

Rebekah has been successful in many sports. In 2014, she became a qualified Surf Lifeguard where she patrolled Himatangi Beach. She has competed regionally and nationally for the Palmerston North Surf Life Saving Club in both Long Course and Short Course Canoe racing with her fellow team members. Her team’s results included Central Region Under 19 Year Women’s Canoe Overall Winners for long and short course canoe racing, as well as numerous other regional placings. Their most outstanding result was placing 3rd overall in the Under 19 years Women’s short course canoe at the New Zealand Surf Life Saving Championship in 2017, where they competed against teams from throughout New Zealand.

In 2016, Rebekah gained her international qualification for teaching Highland Dancing. Rebekah has a British Association of Teachers of Dance Members Diploma in Highland and has represented New Zealand at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Wellington, New Zealand, and was one of the Directors of the Gael Force Highland Dance Company for the New Zealand Military Tattoo that was scheduled to be held in 2020.

Recently Rebekah has taken her dancers internationally to compete, with the most recent competition being held in Sydney, Australia where her students received outstanding recognition. Rebekah and her dancers are now preparing for their next international tour that will take them to Europe to compete on the world stage.
